From 2009 to 2013 I lived and worked inside a rural Indian garment factory, Pratibha Syntex. As a young designer I wanted to understand the world of fashion behind the label.
When I arrived at the factory. I was astounded by the amount of off-cut waste produced and set about creating an up-cycled collection out of waste.
My work was recognized by the Center for Sustainable Fashion London, and later published in the book Fashion & Sustainability, Design for Change.
I created and ran a mentorship program in the factory inviting student designers to experience fashion behind the label.
