Human Centered Design

Human Centered Design
At the heart of my work is a focus on the end user. Balancing their needs with what is feasible and viable for the business is a challenge that I find stimulating and rewarding.

Empathy
My education in human-centered design was not obtained through formal instruction, but rather through a process of active listening, empathizing with others, and learning from trial and error.

Trust
I developed essential skills in building trust and engaging with individuals who often had limited opportunities to voice their perspectives and experiences in their daily lives.

Authentic Insights
I learned qualitative research methodologies to ensure the collection of objective and authentic insights about the lives of the individuals I was designing for. These methodologies allowed me to gain a deep understanding of their experiences and perspectives.

Rwanda
In Rwanda, I utilized my human-centered design (HCD) expertise to conduct research and develop solutions aimed at effectively reaching girls with valuable and engaging content. The goal was to inspire and empower them in navigating the challenges of adolescence.

India
I partnered with the local NGO, Jhoole, to enhance the skills of young women in the informal craft sector of Mehashwar, India.

South Africa
I organized and facilitated co-design sessions with girls in South African Townships to identify the value and role of a WhatsApp Chatbot in addressing the essential information needs of girls in adolescent sexual reproductive health

Nigeria
During my trip to western Nigeria, I collaborated with a call center staffed by young women who received calls from girls in Northern Nigeria. Over the course of a week, we co-designed a customer relationship platform to enhance the ability of call center operators to deliver vital information effectively to girls.
